Member Sergio Martinez recently traveled to Villa del Palmar Cancun following the government mandated shutdowns that took place across the world. Below he shares a brief recap of his extraordinary experience.
“I fell in love with Cancun over 20 years ago and have visited at least once a year ever since. I became a member of Villa Del Palmar Cancun 5 years ago and have never had any regrets at my decision. My family and I now visit at least 3-4 times a year and have met and become friends with many of the residents in Quintana Roo.
We are in unprecedented times, because of the Covid-19 Worldwide Pandemic, and have all been impacted. My girlfriend worked in hospitality for one of the largest global hotel chains and personally understands what it is like to work in an industry that has been shut down.
As we spoke with many of the residents, many have also been hit very hard with no pay and are just starting to return to work. Over the years, we’ve gotten to know the staff at VDP Cancun, and all were grateful and praised Tafer/Villa Group saying that they were blessed to be back and even during the shutdown that the company continued to take care of them. This is another reason why I am proud to be a member.
My family and I were nervous and unsure what to expect, however, it was obvious that Cancun has taken strides to assure safety and cleanliness. The airport was properly sectioned off with sanitizing stations throughout. When we met our shuttle driver, our bags were all sprayed and sanitized before being loaded. We were asked to continue to wear our masks and sanitize our hands prior to entering our shuttle.
As we arrived at the resort, our bags were unloaded, sanitized once again, and we were also provided with sanitizer for our hands. Some may see this as an inconvenience, however, this made us all feel safe, as it proves that the Mexican government and Villa del Palmar is taking the health and safety of their guests and staff seriously.
The staff is truly what makes this resort outstanding, and they never cease to amaze me.
As a member, I choose to visit VDP Cancun several times a year because they go out of their way to make us feel like family.
Each time I arrive, Lulu and Natalia from member check-in always welcome us with open arms and set the tone for our stay. Merly, Moises, Miradelly, Miguel (bartender), Manuel (bartender), and Sergio (bartender) all go out of their way and make it a point to say hello to us upon our arrival and each morning.
Over the past 5 years, the experience has only improved, and despite what is happening in the world and knowing that they are operating with limited staff and guests, the service and quality of food has not suffered.
It is obvious that each individual takes pride in their work and loves what they do. Since I visit often, I have shared several pictures that I reflect on frequently as I plan my next visit.”
