Our favorite travel story at Villa del Arco happened this past June when I (Kelsey) got married and our two-week stay was a dream come true! My parents and I have been members since 2007 and we’ve stayed at Villa del Arco at least once a year ever since. My now husband proposed to me in Cabo in January 2018, and since we love it there so much, we thought it would be the perfect place for our destination wedding! We also wanted to share our favorite destination with our family and friends, so we planned many fun events leading up to the big day, and our wedding day at El Patron Terrace was nothing short of amazing.
Upon arriving at Villa del Arco, Martin, the lead bellman, greeted us with his usual warm welcome. The entire staff at Villa del Arco really makes it feel like a second home to us. Everyone was so accommodating during our two-week stay and they were also very helpful to our wedding guests. Before our guests arrived, we had last minute meetings with our wedding vendors and our amazing wedding planner Perla. Putting the finishing touches on the wedding details we had spent the last 15 months planning for made everything start to feel real!
Before the wedding, we had various events planned to show our guests why we love Cabo and Villa del Arco so much. We booked deep sea fishing through the activities office, and every person on our boat caught a fish! For dinner, we took the fish to El Patron and the chef prepared an amazing meal for us with all the fish we caught.
We also love Mexican coffee and discovered El Patron has our favorite Mexican coffee in Cabo. We and our guests were so impressed with our amazing dinner and Mexican coffee presentation! Knowing we were getting married at that restaurant later in the week made us even more excited for our wedding reception dinner.
Our first wedding event for all our guests was a welcome dinner with cocktails and tacos. We ended up having this in the corner of the resort on the grass which was so nice! Our wedding planner Perla and her team did an amazing job setting everything up and the food and service was amazing. It was a great way to kick off our wedding festivities with everyone before heading out for our joint bachelor and bachelorette party at Squid Roe.
Another event we had organized for our wedding guests was a sunset sail on the Tropical. We initially discovered this boat through the activities office, and it is something we do every time we come to Cabo! It is such a fun yet relaxing sail and a fantastic way to watch the sunset in Cabo.
The first week of our vacation had gone perfectly and now it was time for the wedding day! The girls and I got ready in my parent’s penthouse which was so beautiful. We had lunch and champagne delivered, and we got to enjoy the amazing views and take our first round of pictures! After getting ready, it was time for our first look.
Perla and our photographer Anna walked me around the hotel, stopping at every corner to make sure Richie wouldn’t see, and we ventured over to our first look location outside of the Desert Spa. Richie had the best reaction when he saw me in my wedding dress! Our wedding party met us after this, and we took photos outside of Villa del Arco’s lobby followed by a ride on the trolley for more photos!
We had our wedding ceremony set up on El Patron Terrace and cocktail hour inside El Patron and everything was picture perfect. Our wedding reception was back on the terrace and I think that setup was the best yet! The food for our reception was spectacular and the servers during our wedding were top notch. We never had an empty drink in our hands, and we all enjoyed dancing the night away!
Our honeymoon at Villa del Arco was also amazing. All the staff were extra kind to us knowing we just got married, and my husband and I enjoyed relaxing in cabanas by the pool every day (thanks to Jorge)! We love the pool bar food and enjoyed a great dinner at Neptune.
Leaving Villa del Arco always brings tears to my eyes but knowing we will be back again brings me so much joy. All of our wedding guests were so impressed and understand why we keep coming back to the same place year after year. Everyone has said that our wedding was the best wedding ever, and they all hope to make a trip back someday. When we look at all our wedding photos and watch our wedding videos, it brings us back to the happiest two weeks of our lives.
We can’t wait to be back at Villa del Arco for New Year’s to experience all of the positive emotions again in person. Cabo has always held a special place in our hearts, but after this trip of a lifetime in June for our wedding, Villa del Arco is even more special to us. We are so happy we became members when Villa del Arco was still being built, and we can’t wait to continue traveling there for the rest of our lives!
