The Eagle’s Wings Foundation (EWF) is a non-profit organization created in 1999 by the Villa Group and a long-time UVC Member, the late Jim McCarthy. Eagle’s Wings gives back to the communities and areas surrounding the Villa Group resorts.
On Thursday, July 9th, 2020 Villa del Palmar Cancun hosted their 6th Annual Eagle’s Wings Foundation Donation Ceremony. It was led and directed by Julieta Reynoso, the Eagle’s Wings Foundation’s Director.
Joining us for this event, was Executive Vice-President of Tafer properties Mr. Fernando Gonzalez Jr., Regional Vice President Mr. Robert Kistner, and General Manager of Villa del Palmar Cancun Juan Carlos Gonzalez.
This year the Eagle’s Wings Foundation was able to donate $24,606.00 USD which equates to $537,373.20 pesos approximately. Below outlines the donation recipients and shares how they helped those in need.
Donation Recipients
APAFHDEM (Asociación de Padres de Familia con Hijos Deficientes Mentales de Benito Juárez A.C.)
Donation Granted: $54,290.00 MN ($2,027.00 USD)
Charitable funds were used towards:
- The purchase of new computer equipment.
- Buying and installing new air conditioning units.
- Electrical work and other appliance installations.
VIFAC (Vida y Familia de Quintana Roo A.C.)
Donation Granted: $96,940.00 MN ($5,226.00 USD)
Charitable funds were used towards:
- Purchasing computer equipment (10 computers, 10 desks, 10 chairs)
- Professional training for future mothers
FUNDACION AITANA (Unidos por Aitana A.C.)
Donation Granted: $150,000.00 MN ($8,087.00 USD)
Charitable funds were used towards:
- Room renovations and remodeling for infants.
- The purchase of baby items and toys.
- The purchase of kitchen appliances and utensils.
DIF (Isla Mujeres)
Donation Granted: $180,600.00 MN ($9,736.00 USD)
Charitable funds were used towards:
- The restoration of the Municipal Comprehensice Rehabilitation Center therapeutic CRIM Tank. This tank provides rehabilitation stimulation for upwards of 80 plus Isla Mujeres citizens.
MAMITA Y LETY (Mamita y Lety A.C.)
Donation Granted: $19,729.80 MN ($1,064.00 USD)
Charitable funds were used towards:
- The purchase of 4 fans.
- Installation of blacksmith security doors.
CRUZ ROJA Isla Mujeres
Donation Granted: $217,133.00 MN ($11,706.00 USD)
Charitable funds were used towards:
- The purchase of First-Aid Training Mannequins.
- The purchase of an emergency response stretcher, ultra-sounds machines, a defibrulator and more.
ESCUELITA DE SONIA Con Tu Ayuda Si Cambias Una Vida A.C.
Donation Granted: $82,700.00 MN ($4,459.00 USD)
Charitable funds were used towards:
- The purchase of doors, windows, security cameras.
- Major renovations and repairs of the property.

How Can Members Help?

- Eagle’s Wings Foundation donation line item on Annual Maintenance Fee – Look for the optional line item on your annual assessment. The suggested minimum is $20, but no donation is too small!
- One-time or recurring donations through Pay Pal – http://eagles-wings-foundation.org/campaign/become-a-volunteer/ – Click on donate, fill out the form, and the link will automatically take you to Pay Pal.
- Bring a Thing – Bring your donation to the resort or purchase items in Mexico, and they will be collected and distributed to those in need, such as schools and orphanages. Most needed items: rice, beans, toothbrushes/paste, shampoo, hygiene items, shoes, sneakers, school supplies such as pens, pencils, paper, coloring pens, notebooks, backpacks, non-toxic whiteboard pens, etc.
- Lobby donation boxes – If you have any loose change at the end of your vacation, drop it in the boxes at each resort lobby. The funds are collected and used for holiday parties at Senior Homes.
