An Injured Wrist Threatens to Derail a Resort Vacation.
What Happened
In preparation for his resort vacation, a member decided to upgrade to the Chubb Essentials insurance plan to ensure he had additional coverage for medical expenses. He also saved the international phone number for Chubb’s 24/7 Travel Assistance team to his mobile phone just in case he needed it. The day had finally come—he arrived at his resort in Mexico looking forward to his stay. Just a few hours later, he missed a step on a stairway. He soon realized the severity of his injury as his wrist throbbed with excruciating pain.
How Our Coverage Responded
The member immediately sought assistance from the resort staff, who promptly called their onsite doctor. The resort’s experienced physician examined his wrist carefully. Suspecting a fracture, he recommended getting an x-ray at the nearest hospital to confirm the diagnosis. The results confirmed that he had indeed fractured his wrist. He received a prescription for pain relief and had his wrist immobilized via a cast to facilitate the healing process.

Outcome
Once home, the member filed a claim for the cost of his medical expenses. The Chubb Claims team processed his claim quickly and efficiently to help ensure he received reimbursement. In the end, he received the total amount claimed for medical—approximately $1,200—due to his $10,000 in coverage for accident/sickness benefits under his Chubb Essentials plan.
