Firefighters Crossing Borders (FFCB) is a non-profit organization based in the United States whose members are active and retired firefighters, medical personnel, and skilled citizens from the US, Canada, and Mexico, who work together to bring advanced training, equipment, and vehicles to departments desiring assistance throughout Mexico. The Villa Group supports this organization by offering complimentary accommodations and meals to participants of the program at the Villa Group properties.
The 2016 Puerto Vallarta Firefighter Training Symposium was held on May 4 and 5, 2016 at Villa del Palmar Puerto Vallarta. FFCB instructors worked with locals in Puerto Vallarta on developing advanced skills in Auto Extrication (removing a vehicle from around a person involved in a motor accident) and High Angle Rope Rescue Techniques.
Firefighters Crossing Borders began assisting firefighters in the State of Jalisco in 2008. “It’s about firefighters helping their brothers and sisters,” says Joel Schwarz, Founder, “I believe they truly appreciate our efforts.” Due to the generosity of its donors, FFCB also provides equipment and apparatuses to continue saving lives. Thank you to everyone for supporting this organization and making safety possible in Puerto Vallarta!
FFCB is an excellent organization doing important training and donation work throughout Mexico. Our non-profit “Surf Lifesaving del Sur” worked in conjuction with FFCB for 4 years (’10-’14) providing the Lifeguard Training module for their symposiums. We trained the first volunteer Lifeguards for the rural communities of Sayulita & San Pancho, as well as members of the Bahia de Banderas Fire Dept. – and the Puerto Vallarta City Lifeguards. We just completed our 22 Lifeguard Academy in Los Cabos, certifying an additional 94 students from throughout the Baja Peninsula (including more employees from VDP Cabo San Lucas).
As a UVC member (VDP Cabo San Lucas) since 1994, I am proud of you folks in your support of FFCB,
Sincerely, Laine Pepper (Vice President, Surf Lifesaving del Sur)
