Understanding Your Chubb Travel Insurance Coverage Options

We want you to have the best possible resort experience. But the reality is that any time you travel, you can face unexpected issues that could derail your trip. To help you navigate these “what ifs,” we’ve partnered with Chubb—a leading international insurance provider—to offer you insurance coverage while traveling using your vacation ownership account. How does it work? There are two Chubb plans—the Basics and the Essentials plans.

As a Gold or VPA member, you’re automatically enrolled in and covered by the Basics plan. It includes:

  1. Coverage for up to $50,000 in emergency medical transportation to the nearest adequate facility, transportation after stabilization, and return of dependent children (applies when you’re traveling 100 miles or more from your primary residence to your vacation ownership);
  2. Coverage for up to $50,000 in reasonable expenses for the repatriation of a member’s remains to the U.S. if an accident or illness results in death; and
  3. Access to 24/7 medical, travel, and personal assistance services to help you navigate travel emergencies. For more details on these assistance services and the types of situations they can help you navigate, check out our blog post here.

Note: Premier members must elect coverage during the annual enrollment period in order to be eligible for the Chubb Basics insurance benefits and travel assistance services.

Enhanced Coverage: Chubb Essentials Plan

Looking for coverage for travel mishaps beyond those covered by the Basics plan? You can upgrade to the Chubb Essentials plan at anytime throughout the year. The Essentials plan provides the same access to 24/7 travel assistance experts, plus:

  1. Travel benefits, like coverage for trip delay (up to $600), baggage delay (up to $100), and baggage and personal effects (up to $1,000);
  2. Up to $10,000 in coverage for accident and sickness medical expenses (applies when you’re traveling 100 miles or more from your primary residence to your vacation ownership); and
  3. Enhanced coverage of up to $500,000 for emergency medical transportation to the nearest adequate facility, transportation after stabilization, and return of dependent children and repatriation of a member’s remains.

This upgraded Essentials coverage is available to you for just $20 per account. Interested in upgrading to the Essentials plan? Call 800-852-4755 (or +1 800-461-0602 if dialing from Mexico) or click here to submit your interest.

  1. We are Gold UVCI Members at Villa Del PalMar, Flamingos, Mexico. I understand your Basics Plan coverage only covers us when using our Timeshare.
    Does it cover us if we are using our weeks to trade into another time share? If it does not, how can we get similar coverage? How can we get basic coverage when travelling in general?

    1. Hi Berndy,

      Thank you for reaching out and for being a Gold UVCI Member!

      Please be advised that I’ve forwarded your question regarding coverage when trading your weeks to our Member Services team. They will be reaching out to you directly to assist and provide more details.

      Best Regards,
      Club Marketing
