Furthermore, in December, our resort in Villa La Valencia is going to be open for reservations. Therefore, if you decide to explore Playa Santa Maria, the journey will take only 17 minutes by car from our newest resort addition. Although it is easy to find (Km 13, Sobre la Carretera transpeninsular), make sure to follow navigation. Then you will surely arrive at the right place.
Here are our favorite things to do at the beach.
Go snorkeling
From the moment you lay eyes on the stunning turquoise waters, you will want to jump in and take a swim in the beautiful water. And what is better than enjoying a day of snorkeling? Playa Santa Maria is an excellent beach to discover the marine world. Since it boasts a reef with countless types of tropical fish, it has become a loved snorkeling stop by tourists and locals. The best thing about it is the fact it is secluded. Therefore, you may have a laid-back beach day, avoiding busy crowds.
Have a swim
Even if you are not into snorkeling, you can find something to do at this gorgeous beach. The water is calm; therefore, it is an excellent destination for families since it is safe to swim both for adults and children. So let the warm water soak your body, dip your toes in the sand and forget about all the worries of the world. It’s just you and the beach and, well, a few thousand fish.
Explore the vendors
During the working days, Playa Santa Maria is typically quite empty. However, if you make a visit on the weekend, you may see an array of beach vendors that sell food and beverages. So, whether you are craving just a little afternoon snack to squeeze in between your swimming session or a fresh drink, you are guaranteed to find something that will suit your needs. After all – everything tastes better on the beach!
Go sailing
Of course, it is nice to just chill on the beach, catch a tan, and not worry about anything. But if you prefer to stay active during your vacation, you might want to consider going sailing at Playa Santa Maria. There are plenty of companies that offer unique tours or allow renting sailing boats. Even if it is just for a few hours, it will be an experience unlike any other! Just remember to pack light (if it is wavy, your things might get a little wet), and bring sunscreen with you.
Go diving
As we already mentioned before – Playa Santa Maria is the perfect place to catch a glimpse of the marine world. As you swim through the crystal-clear waters, you will pass thousands of colorful fish. Of course, snorkeling is fun, but if you are ready to go deeper, heading on a diving tour might be just up your alley. However, there are some aspects you must consider first. If you have never been diving before, you should have a medical examination to ensure it is safe for your health. Even if you are certified to go deep in the marine world, avoid diving unless you feel one hundred percent. Having a hangover or a cold is a strict “no”.
Also, remember never to touch anything while being in the water. It is a good practice to protect coral reefs, but it is also needed for your own safety.
Go on a boat tour
Since you can access Playa Santa Maria by hopping on about tour in Cabo San Lucas Marina, you can explore nearby parts of the beach as well. When it seems like you have had enough time on the beach, make sure to explore Los Cabos as well. Even nowadays, the beautiful city continues to embrace its colorful traditions through music, art, and culture. That is also part of the reason why so many vacationers decide to explore this part of Mexico.
So, what should you see? During March, stop by Gala de Danza – an international event that showcases dancers, musicians, and singers from all over the world. If you are a fan of comedy, don’t forget to experience the Los Cabos Comedy Festival, hosted in October. You are guaranteed to have a good laugh! And, of course, the Los Cabos International Film Festival, which happens in November, is a must-see too. So, whatever you decide to do, you will surely have a great time.
Visit the Chileno Beach
If it seems like you have done and tried everything at the Playa Santa Maria, perhaps it is time to take a tour to a different beach located nearby. Chileno Beach is another quiet, fabulous respite that you can easily hop over to for a change of scenery. Just a 20-minute ride away from Villa Group Los Cabos, you will find the stunning paradise. Admire the different shades of turquoise water, compare the differences in the underwater world and have fun hitting the waves! Chileno beach has more amenities than Playa Santa Maria, therefore it might seem more comfortable to some people. During whale season, you may experience something truly unique. Take a moment to hold your head underwater and listen. You might hear the singing of humpback whales. There is no such place as Los Cabos – a true paradise on Earth.
Best time of year to visit. Temperatures
