Paella & Wine

Villa del Palmar Cancun has recently implemented a weekly paella & wine event. This event will be hosted every Friday around noon. Guests will have the opportunity to gather around the main pool, enjoy wine, and watch as our talented chefs present a masterful culinary demonstration.

Paella is a popular Hispanic dish. It originated from a region of eastern Spain called Valencia. Today, this delicious entree is still very popular in Spain and can also be found in most western countries. Many variations of this dish have been passed down through generations; it typically consists of fresh and vibrantly colored vegetables, meat, seafood, spices, herbs, and more.

Paella gained its popularity in the mid-nineteen hundreds when it became a dish shared between laborers. They would take the leftover food from Moorish Royal Banquets, combine the scraps with rice, place everything onto a large platter, and cook it over an open flame. In the Hispanic culture, the term paella is derived from the Latin word “patella,” which is also known as a flat plate or pan.

We are excited to offer this exquisite dish to our resort guests. During this event, you will have the opportunity to engage with the chefs, ask questions, and learn more about the history and methods of preparing paella. Join us weekly for this fun demonstration. We look forward to seeing you there!

Space is limited for all events and activities. The resort reserves the right to change, alter or terminate the event schedule at any time with or without notice. Upon arrival, please see staff at the resort for additional details.
