Villa La Estancia is hosting Cuisine of the Sun, an International Food and Wine Festival, from April 26-29, 2017. Featuring a line-up of internationally acclaimed chefs, Cuisine of the Sun will showcase the talents and dishes of celebrity chefs from the United States and Latin America.
This four-day festival offers a variety of entertaining activities such as cooking classes on the beach, chef presentations, dinner parties, and more, that are sure to delight your taste buds. All attendees will have the opportunity to attend an elegant dinner alongside famous chefs, learn from these master chefs, and have a chance to show off their new skills in a “Chopped Challenge,” which puts celebrity chefs and their guest partners in a cooking showdown.
Celebrity Chefs at Cuisine of the Sun:
Penny Davidi: Once the founder and owner of Pizza Rústica, this talented chef is now featured on the Food Network’s popular show, The Food Network Star, where she has become the first ever Middle Eastern finalist.
Michele Ragussis: Executive Chef at Central House at Crown in Provincetown, Massachusetts who has appeared on shows such as NBC Food Fighters, 24 Hour Restaurant Battle, Chopped, and Midnight Feast.
Martita Jara: Featured on Season 8 of The Next Food Network Star, Home Made Simple, and Fox 5 San Diego.
Dakota Weiss: Executive Chef at Nine-Thirty restaurant at The Backyard at the W Westwood, former contestant on Top Chef, and named “Best Chef” by Angeleno Magazine.
Patrick “Pat” Neely: Hosted two popular Food Network programs called Road Tasted with the Neelys and Down Home with the Neelys. Co-owner of Neely’s Bar-B-Que restaurant in downtown Memphis, Tennessee.
Gilles Epie: The youngest chef to be awarded the coveted Michelin star, which he won in 1989 at just 22 years of age. He has been labeled the “Best Chef in America” in 1996 by Food & Wine Magazine, has judged Israel’s Iron Chef 2008, and has served stars such as Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, and George Bush.
Chris Kyler: Food Network finalist from Season 10 that has prepared meals for George Bush.
Cloyce Martin: At the age of 14, this child prodigy has been accompanying famous chefs such as Pascal, Chris Tzorin, and Penny Davidi.
Rahm Fama: Host of Food Network’s show Meat and Potatoes. He has served as Executive Chef of La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa and at the Lodge in Vail, Colorado.

I’m excited. I love to cook. I watch all the cooking shows on Food Network, Create TV, PBS, etc. When in Mexico I love eating at lots of restaurants and food carts in Bucerias, PVR, Sayulita… I also shop the markets and cook in my Flamingos Penthouse.
Working next to one of these chefs in a “Chopped Challenge” would be another great VDP Flamingos vacation memory.
Hi Brittany. I’ll be there. I arrive on 4/22 for a week at my VDP Flamingos, PH, but have to move to Mayan Palace for week 2. We always have a great time on the Riviera Nayarit.
