My Favorite Experiences at Villa La Valencia:

1. Aqua Aerobics

One of my absolute favorite things to do at Villa La Valencia was to partake in Aqua Aerobics. Every day at noon, I would join the enthusiastic group by the pool, eager to dive into the refreshing routine. The dynamic movements paired with the brilliant sun along and the refreshing water provided an idyllic setting for getting a workout in.

2. Mexican Garnacha Class

“Garnacha” is a popular street food dish in Mexico. It features fried masa (corn) dough topped with your choice of meat, veggies, and salsa. It can also be made vegetarian style. Participating in a member’s cooking class was an absolute delight! The hands-on experience of crafting garnachas from scratch was so much fun.

But you know what took it to the next level? Pressing my very own masa (corn) tortillas. And the intoxicating aroma of those freshly cooked garnachas wafting through the air is a sensory memory that lingers, tempting me to relive it again. After preparing the tortilla base for our garnachas, we were able to choose from a delightful array of meats, mushrooms, and black beans, accompanied by a medley of salsas, guacamoles, shredded lettuce, radishes, peppers, cheese, and more, to customize our garnachas with. The irresistible appeal of garnachas has solidified its position on my roster of recipes to explore and experiment with in the comfort of my own home.

3. Member’s Mixology Class

Taking part in the member’s mixology class was such a fun and tasty activity. The resort’s talented mixologist brought out my inner bartender, teaching me how to create two amazing craft cocktails, which change every class.

The first cocktail that I learned how to make in this class was the Mezcal-isco, which was a unique blend of smoky Mezcal, tequila, lime, agave nectar, orange bitters, and worm salt. I learned what worm salt was in this class. It is often referred to as “sal de gusano” and is a traditional Mexican condiment that combines sea salt, larvae, and often chili flakes. This ingredient is commonly used in Oaxaca and pairs exceptionally well with Mezcal, adding complexity to its flavors. While it may sound unusual at first, worm salt is a beloved staple in Mexican gastronomy, providing a salty, earthy, and slightly spicy note to both dishes and drinks. I must say, it was a surprisingly delightful addition to this particular drink and complimented the flavors very well.

The second cocktail that I learned to make in this class was the Egg White Sour, a delightful concoction made with fresh egg whites, tangy citrus, a hint of sweetness, and of course, whiskey. For a sweeter taste, you can also substitute amaretto for whiskey, which is what I did. The frothy egg topping beautifully enhanced the rich flavors of the liquor. Yum!

4. Power Walk the Lazy River

I had the pleasure of taking part in a delightful workout session led by the talented Activities team. As we strolled within the lazy river, the enticing melodies of music accompanied our every step, infusing our workout with a touch of excitement. With the aid of light weights, we effortlessly elevated the intensity of our exercises, transforming each stride into a gratifying challenge. The current of the river offered a natural resistance, urging us to exert ourselves while basking in the tranquility of our serene surroundings. This remarkable experience not only elevated my overall sense of well-being but also enabled me to fully embrace my time in the Lazy River, all while providing me with a fantastic workout.

5. Float the Lazy River

You simply can’t visit this resort without indulging in all its incredible amenities, and let me tell you, the longest lazy river in all of Cabo is an absolute must-do! I enjoyed leisurely floating down this river, basking in the glorious sun, and fully being immersed in pure relaxation. Plus, the charming pelican statues and decor throughout are adorable and made me smile. Trust me, it’s an experience you won’t want to miss out on!

6. Rejuvenate in Azul Wellness Spa Center

The wet areas of Azul Wellness Spa Center are extraordinary, easily ranking among my personal favorites. They boast a comprehensive hydrotherapy circuit, complete with a cold plunge, sauna, and steam room. The ambiance is incredibly soothing, and every detail of the facilities is in pristine condition. I thoroughly enjoyed completing the hydrotherapy circuit before my massage. To truly soak in the experience, I’d recommend arriving at least an hour and a half prior to your service. Use of the hydrotherapy area is included with the purchase of any spa service, or you can purchase a day pass to the area, if desired.

After indulging in the hydrotherapy area, I pampered myself with a blissful sixty-minute deep tissue massage. My skilled therapist worked her magic, skillfully targeting muscle tension and knots honed through years of practice. With each touch, I could feel the weight of my stress melt away, replaced by a sense of profound lightness and inner peace. The perfect pressure, accompanied by soothing melodies, created an ambiance of complete relaxation. Upon departing the Wellness Center, a profound sense of rejuvenation washed over me, as if the weight of the world had been lifted. The deep tissue massage I received served as the exquisite culmination of my spa journey, leaving me feeling refreshed and revitalized.

7. Workout in the State of the Art Gym

The gym at Villa La Valencia truly stood out as one of the most exceptional fitness centers I’ve encountered in my travels. It offers an impressive array of equipment, catering to every fitness need imaginable. From a diverse selection of ellipticals, treadmills, and bikes for cardiovascular workouts, to a wide range of weights for strength training, this gym is equipped to provide a comprehensive workout experience. Moreover, the equipment is immaculate, new, and well-maintained, reflecting the utmost quality. The outstanding variety and superior quality of the equipment truly enhanced my overall experience, demonstrating that even while traveling, it is not only possible but enjoyable to maintain a fitness regimen.

8. Take a Walk on the Beach

A leisurely stroll along the beach became my daily ritual, a cherished opportunity to connect with nature and revel in its wonders. The vibrant dance of a crab across the sand, the graceful soar of birds in the boundless sky, and the gentle caress of sand beneath my feet as I immersed myself in ‘earthing’ or “grounding” to the earth through bare feet or hands etc. Studies continue to be published about the benefits of this simple, peaceful practice, including reduction of inflammation, stress, and chronic pain, and its beneficial effects on muscle damage and mood” – these enchanting moments filled me with tranquility and rejuvenation, epitomizing the essence of my unforgettable stay at Villa La Valencia.

9. Attend Villa La Valencia’s Art Walk

Experiencing the Art Walk at Villa La Valencia was a nice addition to my stay. Every Monday evening outside of Latitud 23.5 Steakhouse, the resort transforms into a vibrant hub of creativity and culture (activity and schedule subject to change at any time). Local artists come and display their evocative artwork, which ranges from mesmerizing paintings and playful caricatures to intricate woodwork. As I strolled through the art, I found myself drawn into the world of each piece of art. The opportunity to purchase and bring home a piece of this artistic celebration was an added treat. You can even sip wine here, if desired.

10. Enjoy Live Music

The live music during dinner at Villa La Valencia’s restaurants was an absolute delight that took my dining experiences to new heights. With a rotating lineup of talented musicians, each evening offered a captivating and diverse range of musical sensations. From the sultry notes of the saxophone to the soulful strumming of the guitar, and the passionate vocals of the singers, every dining experience became a unique and unforgettable journey. The enchanting ambiance created by the intimate, yet electric atmosphere had me swaying to the rhythm, completely absorbed in the melody. It was a true feast for the senses, where the sumptuous flavors of the food, the beautifully arranged plates, and the mesmerizing live music seamlessly intertwined to create an unforgettable sensory experience.

11. Indulge in the Restaurants

The culinary delights presented by every restaurant at Villa La Valencia are truly irresistible. Each establishment offers a distinct and exquisite dining experience, guaranteeing a diverse selection of mouthwatering options to satisfy every palate. Cuisines offered are primarily Mexican, Asian, Italian, and American dishes along with specialty crafted cocktails and mocktails (just ask for a mocktail menu if desired). I highly recommend purchasing the all-inclusive meal plan, allowing you to indulge in and savor all the delightful dining choices available.

12. Visit the San Jose Del Cabo Art Walk

Although I didn’t venture too far from the property, I had the pleasure of attending the captivating San Jose Del Cabo Art Walk. This event takes place every Thursday evening from November to June, transforming the streets of downtown San Jose into a vibrant showcase of artistic talent. The colorful display truly brings out the brilliance and skill of the artists involved. As I strolled through the Gallery District, I was immersed in a sensory feast of art galleries, each offering its unique exhibits. Special events such as “artist in attendance” or new work features added a layer of exclusivity and excitement to the experience. During my exploration, I indulged in the delights of local street foods such as tamales and churros. I also immersed myself in the world of art, appreciating its beauty, and perused the markets in search of exquisite artisan souvenirs. I am a collector of glass hearts and purchased two new hearts to add to my display back home. The genuine warmth and inviting atmosphere of the Art Walk made it an unforgettable part of my journey, demonstrating the culture of downtown San Jose.

My stay at Villa La Valencia was an enchanting experience, where relaxation, adventure, and rejuvenation, intertwined seamlessly. Located on the breathtaking Golden Beach in Los Cabos, this resort became my sanctuary, a world far removed from the urban hustle and bustle. Amidst the proximity to popular beaches like El Chileno, Palmilla, and El Médano, the tranquility remained unrivaled, adding a unique charm to this haven. Undoubtedly, this getaway embodied the epitome of a perfect holiday destination, inviting me to escape to paradise and indulge in a much-needed respite from the mundanity of city life.

    1. Hi Erika,

Swimming in the ocean at Villa La Valencia is not allowed due to strong undertow and rough surf. However, there are nearby beaches that are safe and open for swimming.

  1. 1. Is the resort in Cabo or San Jose?
    2. Was the beach really as flat as the pictures you included here? Can you actually stroll in the water?
    3. If guests do not purchase the all inclusive plan can they still use the resort facilities, go to the resort restaurants, order drinks and receive pool and beach service? Charge to room or cash?

    1. Hi Peggy,

Thank you for reading our blog and submitting your inquiries.

Please see below for our answers to your questions:

1-The resort is in the “Golden Corridor”, located in the middle of Cabo and San Jose.
2-The beach is flat directly at the resort. When walking the beach, note that when going to the sides of the resort there are some areas with rocks (especially when going to the left of the resort). You cannot swim in the beach at this resort due to strong waves.
      3. If members and guests do not purchase the all-inclusive meal plan you can still purchase meals at the onsite restaurants (it will just be a la carte) and receive pool/beach service. You can also still use the resort facilities without the meal plan.

Hope this helps and happy vacation planning!

      Best Regards,

      Club Marketing
