Villa Group Gives Back

All across Mexico, the Villa Group Properties are hard at work, giving back to the resort communities. Here is just a highlight of some of the great programs that are being run in Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, the Islands of Loreto and Cancun. We are proud to work for an organization that cares about its staff, their families, neighborhoods, and their communities.

Cleanup and Preservation Programs – One of the most valuable resources Mexico has are its beautiful beaches.  There is nothing more relaxing than a fun day at the beach, but when everyone goes home, the evidence is left behind.  The staff and management of the Villa Group resorts have committed to an ongoing program of keeping our beaches litter-free and beautiful to protect the health of the wildlife, the cleanliness of the beaches and ocean and provide a safe area for our members.  Further, the staff has also organized other local clean ups.  One recent project was cleaning the Pittilal River.

Sea turtle Protection – Programs are in place at each resort as needed. The resorts know that the life of a sea turtle is never easy and that is part of the reason why they have set up provisions to protect and liberate the hatchlings that are born on the hotels’ grounds. Six of the seven known species of sea turtles are currently on the threatened or endangered species list. By doing their part, Villa del Palmar is hoping to help bring the numbers of these endangered species back up to that of a stable population.

Community Support – Villa del Palmar and Villa del Arco in Cabo San Lucas offer constant support to people in the Los Cabos community by making donations of resort items being replaced such as household appliances, bedclothes, furniture, kitchen supplies, food, etc.  and support associations such as “Eagle’s Wings Foundation”, “Children of the Captain“ and “Heroic Fire Brigade”, organizations who distribute these much-needed resources to those who need them most.

Loreto LanternsMake a Wish Foundation – Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto is very involved with the local Make a Wish Foundation, dedicated to fulfilling wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich their lives with hope, strength and joy.  One way the resort raises funds is through a Wish Ceremony.  During this wonderful and touching ritual, members and guests can write their wishes on lightweight paper lanterns, then light a small biodegradable candle attached underneath.  The heat makes the lantern rise into the sky.  It is a dazzling and beautiful site to watch the night sky as dozens of glowing lanterns rise higher and higher, sending heartfelt wishes to the heavens.
