Villa del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa at the Islands of Loreto has wholeheartedly embraced the wellness lifestyle, offering its visitors a robust offering of healthy pursuits.
No trip to the resort, located on the eastern coast of the Baja Peninsula, is complete without a visit to the luxurious, 39,000-square-foot Sabila Spa, which provides peaceful mountain views from state-of-the-art massage and treatment suites. The experienced staff pampers the member’s or guest’s body and sends the spirit soaring with the help of soothing plants and herbs native to the Baja California area.
Named to SpaFinder’s list of Best Spas in Mexico, Sabila Spa offers all the services one would expect from a world-class facility, including massage, couples massage, body wraps, facials, body scrubs, and a full-service beauty salon specializing in manicures and pedicures. Add to that list a unique wellness service — an on-site meditation room, which guests can either use on their own or as part of a guided session.
Other options at Sabila Spa include aromatherapy, reflexology, and hydrotherapy specials, as well as a soothing sauna, relaxing spa tubs, and cold-water plunge. Yoga classes, led by seasoned experts, also are available.
But wellness is not achieved only indoors. The resort grants access to unparalleled sporting opportunities, including world-class golf at Danzante Bay Golf Club, mountain biking, swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, scuba diving, and even salsa dance lessons sure to get the heart pumping.
There’s also the miles of hiking trails, flanked by the rugged Sierra de La Giganta Mountains and the Sea of Cortez, that guests can enjoy on their own or with a guide. Among the more popular treks:
- Whale watch hike. A 35-minute trek leads to a glorious private beach where visitors can spend the day relaxing in the sun and watching seabirds and migrating whales put on a show near shore. The region is known to host eight species of whales, with the grey whale famed for staging the liveliest display.
- Osprey hike. A 45-minute hike to view the impressive osprey nests in the area and enjoy panoramic views of Catalina Island.
Every April, Villa del Palmar Hosts Wellness Week, which features yoga/meditation classes, guided hikes, detox sessions, aqua aerobics, spa treatments, healthy meals, expert-led talks, and more. In 2018, popular Hollywood personal-fitness trainer Rebecca Broxterman lead many of the week’s classes and sessions.
Healthy dining is a year-round staple at Villa del Palmar. All three of the property’s restaurants – Danzante, Casa Mia, and The Market – provide healthy dishes on their diverse menus, and the resort’s chefs are happy to consider special meal requests.
Guests of Villa del Palmar can opt for a Health & Healing Package, which provides a seven-day wellness experience with access to daily yoga and paddle board classes, holistic rituals, unlimited access to the resort’s hydrotherapy circuit, seven juices from the Sabila Spa juice bar, one 50-minute sport massage, and a water healing treatment.
