ATV Riding in Puerto Vallarta

During my last trip to Villa del Palmar Flamingos I embarked on an ATV Jungle tour with ATV Jungle Trek.

For this tour, I met the tour group at the ATV Jungle Tour Office close to downtown Puerto Vallarta at 9 am, which was a thirty minute cab ride from Villa del Palmar Flamingos or a five minute cab ride from Villa del Palmar Puerto Vallarta. After checking in, I was given a helmet, goggles and a bandana. There was a total of ten participants in our tour group and we all sat in the center area of the office as we listened to a training overview of how to use the ATV’s. After this overview, we were led by our three tour guides outside and assigned our ATVs, which were semi-automatic. Participants have the option to ride the ATV as a single or a double (two people on one ATV). The tour guides walked around and explained how to change gears and brake. We were given a few minutes to practice and ask any questions. After all participants confirmed that they understood how to navigate their ATV we departed the tour office.

Our journey went through the town of Puerto Vallarta and up into the Sierra Madre Mountains. We passed through small towns, went up dirt roads, and worked our way up the mountain, which boasted beautiful views of the city. During most of the tour I could see panoramic vistas of the jungle hillside with glimpses of the Banderas Bay. Since it had just rained the evening before my tour, there were several opportunities to plow through puddles of water and enjoy the beautiful greenery that surrounded us.

After getting to the top of the mountain, we stopped at a riverside restaurant for lunch, drinks, and tequila tasting. It was relaxing to enjoy a cold mineral water with cheesy nachos by the rivers edge before heading down the mountain and back to the tour office.

Usually when I travel to Puerto Vallarta I stay within the city or in the downtown area. I enjoyed this tour as it took me up into the mountains and gave me another perspective. I found the jungle setting beautiful and peaceful. I particularly enjoyed the wind whipping against my face I was able to look out over the sprawling greenery and look down on Puerto Vallarta and the Banderas Bay.

I highly recommend that you embark on the ATV Jungle Trek Tour Puerto Vallarta with ATV Jungle Trek during your next vacation to Puerto Vallarta for a unique view of the city and to experience the jungle setting.
