The East Cape of Baja is an area of white sand beaches with warm, crystal clear waters that make for excellent diving, some of the world’s best sport fishing, world class windsurfing and kite boarding. The area is home to a living coral reef and mile after mile of exceptionally beautiful, and sometimes, well hidden beaches.

Right in this beautiful paradise, there are two important fishing tournaments that occur in the fall.

1) 11thAnnual Dorado Shootout – July 19, 2015 (Palmas De Cortez & Playa Del Sol).

This is the granddaddy of them all!  With an average of 125 teams each year, the DSO is the biggest in Baja.  Hosted by Captain Kit Mc Near, this tournament offers some of the best fishing and prizes of any tournament in the East Cape. One team will walk away with a brand new 2015 Pick-up Truck. This is a one day tournament.  Largest Dorado wins!  There will be optional jackpots available of $200, $300, $500, and $1,000.  Don’t miss the biggest tournament in the East Cape.

2) Bisbee’s East Cape Offshore Tournament-August 5-9, 2015

Each summer teams of anglers head to the traditional Buenavista Beach Resort in the East Cape city of Buenavista. One of the unique things about this tournament is that both Dorado and Yellowfin Tuna are added to the competition.

On the first day the captains meet on the pool deck of Buena Vista Beach resort, where at least one member of each team must attend.

On the last day, the competition takes place on the beach front of the same resort, where the winning teams receive their awards in a big celebration.
