How to Dial a US Toll-Free Number From Mexico

Have you ever found yourself in Mexico trying to reach a US toll-free number and ended up frustrated because you couldn’t get through? Well, you’re not alone. Many people face similar challenges due to the difference in dialing codes. However, don’t fret, as there are three simple methods to dial US toll-free numbers from Mexico.

Method 1: Dial the International Exit Code

In the United States, toll-free numbers usually start with 1-800-XXX-XXXX. However, when calling from Mexico, you need to dial the International Exit Code, which is 001. Hence, the number becomes 001-800-XXX-XXXX.

Method 2: Substitute the Phone Codes

Another method involves substituting the phone codes. Here’s a simple guide on how to do it:

  • Replace 1-800 with 001-880-XXX-XXXX
  • Replace 1-888 with 001-881-XXX-XXXX
  • Replace 1-877 with 001-882-XXX-XXXX
  • Replace 1-866 with 001-883-XXX-XXXX
  • Replace 1-855 with 001-884-XXX-XXXX
  • Replace 1-844 with 001-885-XXX-XXXX

These methods have been tested and proven to work, especially for those with international phone plans. However, some may encounter issues if their plan doesn’t cover international calls or if the number isn’t set up as a Universal Toll-Free number. In such cases, callers might be prompted that there will be a charge, or the call may not complete at all.

If you need to contact Member Services while on property, we recommend using our toll-free number 1-800-852-4755, which is the main line for members to call to ask questions, make a reservation, pay a bill, etc. From there, the member can be transferred to the Elite or Tafer line if needed.

Method 3: Use A Voice Over Internet Protocol

If you prefer to not use your phone plan when abroad, you can place your call online by using a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP), such as Skype or WhatsApp. You must have an electronic device (can be phone, computer, iPad, etc.) as well as an internet connection for this method to work.

Don’t let international dialing codes get in the way of your communication. Happy calling!
